Ranger Profile: Erin Herbst
My name is Erin Herbst, and I am the Social Media Content Manager. I was born in Pretoria, Gauteng and from a young age I have had a passion for wildlife and knew that my future would simply have to consist of some involvement with it. I actualised this dream in 2018 when I completed my FGASA Level 1 qualification, and then started my journey as a field guide, guiding on horseback. Soon after, I was privileged to begin working at Sabi Sabi.
The art of photography has always been close to my heart, and over time while exploring some of the different areas of wildlife that South Africa has to offer, the idea sparked to capture the incredible things that I have been so fortunate to witness. The concept of telling a story and evoking emotion through a simple photograph intrigued me, and so began my hobby in photography.
Being able to combine my love for the bush and photography is a dream come true, and I look forward to improving my skills as an amateur photographer and to continue welcoming guests to Sabi Sabi!

Much like the guests who visit our lodges, we as rangers are also surrounded by a constant stream of wildlife around our ‘ranger village’. A wide variety of species can all be heard and seen right from our doorsteps, and over a few months, I have collected some images of the different visitors. One main… [Read More]
