The Festive Season was celebrated with great joy at Sabi Sabi, and true to our proudly South African hospitality a multitude of delights were in store for our guests over this time. The season of giving, togetherness and peace is a time to reflect on the year that was and look towards 2019 with great hope and expectation.

Steeped in tradition, our Festive Season guests were treated to a luxury African celebration in the heart of the bush. Christmas Eve commenced with surprise stops in the bush and intimate events at our lodges. Tables adorned with special festive table décor – Little Bush Camp presented an all ‘white and gold’ themed evening - combined with a feast of dinners at our five-star lodges. Scenes of a joyous affair, filled with well-wishes and laughter, completed a memorable evening under a spectacular African night sky for our guests.

Christmas Day continued with a spread of gourmet dishes, interspersed with awe-inspiring wildlife sightings, dips in the sparkly pools and chilled drinks to help cool down in the December bushveld heat.

Just a week later, New Year’s Eve had its own wonderful occasions in store, with an unforgettable  dinner that flowed into midnight and the cheerful clinking of champagne glasses as the countdown began and we stepped into 2019. Earth Lodge guests were treated to a 7-course meal and wine pairing and Bush Lodge guests danced the last night of 2018 away in the bar area, as to not disturb our wildlife friends as they, unlike us, don’t dance to the tune of time.

As we enter the 40^th year of Sabi Sabi welcoming guests from all over the world, we look back on an incredible journey that has been made possible by our family of staff,  our amazing guests and our respective love of the African bush. Over the past 4 decades we have formed life long friendships, partners in conservation. Our guests have seen us grow and expand and witnessed the changes over the years. There have been celebrations of love, commitment and life – and also moments of sadness as we remember those we have lost. Since 1979 we can attest to the timelessness of the African bush, that no matter what is taking place in the world of mankind, the animal kingdom remains eternally optimistic and filled with new beginnings.  Throughout 2019 we will be sharing this 40-year journey with you, so keep an eye out as we recount moments in time that has made Sabi Sabi the icon it is today.
