Anytime is wine time
on Apr 03, 2020As the saying goes, “Anytime is a good time for wine.”
With that in mind, I made a conscious decision earlier this year to start pursuing a passion of mine again that has fallen by the wayside for a while, WINE!!
Why I have neglected this? I have NO valid answer, may I please ask that you don’t judge me for this negligence, sympathise with my irrational behaviour and join me going forward on a journey through the Sabi Sabi wine cellar.
My name is Stefan Schoeman, General Manager – Lodges at Sabi Sabi. I have been involved with the company for a collective of 16 years. I started as a Safari Guide and progressed through the ranks to where I find myself today. I did take a short break from life in the bush and spent two and a half years as General Manager at a well-known Boutique Hotel and Fine Dining restaurant in Gauteng. I returned home to Sabi Sabi in late 2013 and am convinced that after my little roundabout, I have found my niche.
Food and wine have always been a passion and area of great interest. By no means do I consider myself an expert, just someone who enjoys a good bottle of wine, a great meal or even better, a combination of both. I love sharing these experiences with people and love to share in theirs. Sauvignon Blanc with a beef fillet; Merlot with seabass.... One has to ask the question though, “Isn’t that what it is all about? THE EXPERIENCE.” Your experience at the end of the day is what counts.
So, I invite you to please join me on this journey, not only as a passenger but a participant. Please feel free to share your personal experiences regarding the chosen wine of the week, any interesting facts, stories or pairings. Ask questions, hopefully there is an answer, if not I will find one.
