monochrome monday #11
on Mar 02, 2015“I tend to think of the act of photographing, generally speaking, as an adventure. My favorite thing is to go where I’ve never been.”
― Diane Arbus
This is always the objective when I’m out in the field, often photographing a subject that’s been photographed before, but I’m always looking for that little something different that makes the image stand out from the rest, and therein lies the adventure. I hope you enjoy this week’s selection of wildlife in monochrome.

An intimidating sight as a large bull in musth moved toward us in a cloud of dust.

Some young impalas exhibit a behavior known as ‘stotting’, a sign of playfulness.

A powerful sub-adult male of the Styx Pride casually follows the rest of the group to drink.

A male Thick-billed Weaver displays for a nearby female.

A wake of vultures gather at a carcass.

The incredible Warthog Wallow female has a presence that demands attention.

A young male waterbuck stands to attention while observing a disturbance nearby.

Africa’s most successful carnivore and a personal favourite of mine, a member of the Toulon Pack of Wild Dogs.

A pair of zebras stand head-to-toe in order to maximize predator awareness.
