A Misty Magical Morning
on May 12, 2020Woken by my alarm calling me for safari this morning I drew back my curtains, a faint light lit the sky that illuminated with a blanket of mist that surrounds Sabi Sabi.
Preparing for the chilly morning, I wrapped up and set off. It almost seemed eerie at first as it was hard to see far, the air was cold and wet, I could feel the dampness on my face and clothes.

I turned off the main road and stopped to scan around, eerie yes but beautiful and cool at the same time. I noticed some dead trees with their dark colour just coming through the mist. I had never really taken many photos in the mist and thought I would give it a try.

As I kept driving a herd of impala stood on the road and I wondered to myself if the mist affected them in any way, cooler yes but visibility no, any predator could use this to their advantage.

I noticed how when I sat in silence how the bush echoed with the dawn chorus, it was incredible how loud this seemed to be – louder than usual - was it because you couldn’t see well that your hearing amplified? Or were the sounds of birds and mammals advertising their status that much more by sound since sight was limited? I couldn’t say, but nevertheless, it was magical.
The sun started to peak over the horizon, burring through the mist which created a spectacular sight.

I sat and watched as everything around me illuminated.

A few hours later and the mystical magic had all disappeared to reveal a glorious day, but what an absolutely beautiful morning it was.
