Sabi Sabi To The Cape – A New Vintage Chapter

on Sep 25, 2025

Vine to Valley

We build our wine list the way we host you on safari: with intent, curiosity and respect for place. In our cellars, you’ll find limited releases from small, thoughtful producers alongside more familiar names. Our emphasis on boutique wines from dynamic young winemakers brings both character to the table and a story worth sharing. As part of a visit to South Africa, almost every guest staying with us will travel to or from Cape Town and its beautiful wine region, and our aim is to introduce you to wines from regions you might not otherwise explore.

Our Philosophy by the Glass

We look for bottles made by people you can meet, from vineyards you can picture, with flavours that invite conversation. The list balances familiar favourites with discoveries, and it evolves through the seasons, so there is always something new to explore – whether you prefer a trusted classic or a pleasant surprise – but always with a distinctly South African point of view.

Recognised Again

We’re proud to be acknowledged once more by the World of Fine Wines Awards – a tribute to the wine makers who trust us with scarce allocations and our team who pour with knowledge, warmth and care. Our awards include Most Original Wine List, Best Value Wine List and Best Regional Wine List for the Middle East and Africa.

Veld & Vine Bistro: Constantia First

On 1 October, our Cape Town chapter opens at The Claremont – an urban counterpart in the Sabi Sabi Collection – where our wine philosophy takes a focused new shape.

At Veld & Vine Bistro at The Claremont, the wine is devoted first and foremost to the Constantia wine valley, where granite and sandstone slopes are cooled by ocean air and where heritage meets innovation. And here’s what makes it special: to our knowledge, no other independent restaurant in the Constantia/Claremont area is as single-minded in its celebration of this valley across multiple producers.

And where the Constantia wine valley doesn’t make a classic style we’ll keep the same “off-the-beaten-track” approach and source a small handful of standout bottles from elsewhere, starting in the Swartland. Our emphasis stays clear – Constantia at the centre, complemented by a few thoughtful outliers chosen with the same care.

Plan Your Tasting

Begin in the bush at one of our lodges with curated pairings and cellar finds, then continue the journey at Veld & Vine Bistro, where every wine comes from the Constantia wine valley. Ask for a short tasting to learn the styles, or let us recommend a bottle to match your meal.

We look forward to raising a glass with you – first under the stars, then in our 1928 heritage manor in Claremont, a near-century-old setting where the Constantia valley’s story continues in every pour.
