Taking flight

on Sep 25, 2019

The joy of an African safari at our award-winning lodges is made that much more special by flying directly into the vast wildlife reserve and allowing you to quickly immerse your senses in the beauty of the natural surroundings, 5-star accommodation and genuine African hospitality.

As part of an unfenced conservation area it seems remarkable that the pristine landscape of Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is so accessible from Johannesburg and Cape Town, by air. These major hubs of the African continent are both pleasantly short flights away from a safari that begins the moment the aircraft touches down.

Daily flights into Skukuza Airport are operated by Airlink, with an hour-long flight from Africa’s biggest and busiest airport in Johannesburg, OR Tambo International Airport, and just over two and a half hour-long flights from Cape Town International Airport, providing unique direct access into one of the world’s largest protected wildlife areas – the Kruger National Park. Upon meeting your guide and collecting your luggage, you are transported to your lodge, and while your senses are still trying to adapt to this new environment and its sights and smells, your guide will let you know to keep an eye out for movement in the grass or trees. Guests are delighted to discover that these transfers are the first of their safaris, as a myriad animal and bird species greet them en-route from the airport. For those guests arriving at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), short shuttle hops can be arranged accordingly.

Spoilt for choice, Sabi Sabi offers a range of great value 3 and 4 night safari packages at any of our luxurious lodges with either one way or return flights included.  These packages are in conjunction with Airlink, between Johannesburg or Cape Town and Skukuza Airport.  Should your travel itinerary from Sabi Sabi include a flight to Livingstone International Airport (Zambia) or Vilanculos International Airport (Mozambique), via Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, the return leg of your package can be replaced with a quick 20 minute flight from Skukuza Airport to KMIA.  For more information contact res@sabisabi.com
