A close second place to being in the bush and experiencing it in all its magnificence, is to receive regular updates on what its inhabitants are up to. Through incredible imagery and storytelling, daily life at Sabi Sabi is shared by the multi-talented members of our Social Media team on various platforms.

Keeping their eyes and ears close to the ground, our team collaborates with each other to create awe-inspiring content that is shared quickly and efficiently with our Social Media community. Amazing photography and video skills literally bring the bush alive on our digital devices, leaving us in wonder of the constant activity of the bushveld.

Wendy Claase has been with Sabi Sabi for over a decade and as Social Media Manager based at head office, oversees collating all content received from the team at the lodges to ensure that our various platforms are updated daily. On safari, no two days are the same and Wendy takes great joy in sharing daily happenings from the reserve with our thousands of online friends across the globe on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter by way of images, videos and weekly blogs which showcase the captivating world of the bushveld inhabitants.  This also allows our followers to engage with us and find out more about this piece of pristine wilderness we are so privileged to be part of.

Nature and wildlife have always been close to the heart of Louise Murray, Social Media Content Manager.  She works closely with her team who submit photographic and video content throughout each day, ensuring there is sufficient material for posts in the morning, afternoon and evening. Both Kevin van der Linde and Ronald Mutero are qualified field guides stationed at Selati Camp who share their infectious passion for the bush through the lenses of their cameras. Their sound knowledge of photography and animal behaviour ensure that special moments are effortlessly captured, and their excitement is shared online when converted to posts, tweets and video uploads. Andries Ndlovu has recently joined the Social Media team and loves interacting with guests behind the steering wheel of a game drive vehicle.  Based at Bush Lodge, Andries eloquently captures the wildlife stories and intrigue that unfold in front of his camera.

Over and above these dedicated individuals, our entire team at the lodges are also exposed to the wonders of wildlife – sometimes in the lodge environs – on a daily basis and when the opportunity presents itself, they contribute with their snapshots or videos which allows our followers to share those “in the moment” experiences... breath-taking sunsets;  a beautiful bird or the majestic view of a leopard or elephant doing what they do naturally in their wilderness environment – this is after all their “home”.

Our Social Media platforms aim to educate our online followers by bringing to life a story of a static image, give context to our followers on viewing encounters captured on video and to preserve lifelong memories for guests who first-hand experience incredible wildlife sightings.

Our followers include an ever-growing community of aspiring travellers, photographers and nature lovers who eagerly await updates on the Big 5 traversing through the reserve, interesting visitors to our four five-star lodges, the latest additions in the form of newborns or just to learn about the fascinating aspects of nature.

The natural world around us remains untouched and unfazed by likes, status updates, follower numbers or influencing others. Wild animals go about their daily routine and capture us, day after day, while we attempt to capture them and share their incredible stories of survival, loss, mystery and marvel.
