Beauty in everything
on May 18, 2021“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty anywhere.” ~ Vincent Van Gogh
I often find myself wrapped in the activities of the day, swiftly moving along as each task presents itself. This quote from Vincent Van Gogh catches me off guard on how much I can relate to it. I am so lucky to be in a place where nature surrounds me 24/7. I have done this plenty times before but tend to lose my rhythm, so these last few days I have made a point to just stop while I am out in the bush, listening and watching all around me. Often the things around me are overlooked and although I have known it my whole life, I cannot help myself but smile every time and be in awe of Mother Nature. This place we call home, is a marvel and we cannot take it for granted.
This moment I share with myself and nature will never disappoint and it’s a feeling I find hard to capture – I want to share with you some photos of the overlooked, but where you can always find beauty.
A Marula tree, not far from camp, is home to a Western Barn owl. We know it’s there, but hardly see it. You can imagine how I beamed with joy when I turned the corner to find this beautiful bird perched just outside long enough to admire.
We forget to look up once in a while. The clouds break as the morning settles in.
So small yet so entertaining. A couple of rounds of wrestle play before returning home for the night.
Still a crowd favourite – the impressive African elephant.
As the storm rolls in.
The beauty after the storm.
Admire them some more...
Misty mornings make for magical moments.
A perfect little builder.
Zebras are just a spectrum of beauty – my favourite part is their face.
Beauty in the effort of this construction, magnified by Mother Nature’s light.
As the sun started to set, its time to play with silhouettes and light.
Sunsets make me smile.
Always look around you, you may just be surprised to see that there IS beauty in everything!
