A dream come true

on Nov 21, 2019

My name is Ronald Mutero and I am a Field Guide stationed at Sabi Sabi Selati Camp. I have been with Sabi Sabi for a couple of years and I enjoy what I do but I had one dream that one day I will be able to get a camera and be able to capture the memories that unfold in front of me on daily basis.

A photograph to me can say a thousand words from the appearance to emotions and activities of the animal and other organisms. Being able to collect all those aspects of life in a picture has always fascinated me.

And that dream is now a reality, living in it and experiencing what I wished for is more than fulfilling to me. As an upcoming photographer with a lot to learn, I have so far had a lot of fun and hard times in trying to get the perfect images and my mind is always blown away by what I capture.

This in turn has managed to give me a great opportunity to help some of my guests who might be in the same situation and its always rewarding just to give your guests that moment or tip for them to get their perfect picture. Not only changing settings on the camera, but also by just positioning the safari vehicle better.

Every time I capture a photo and review it, I smile because I am now living the dream.

Being part of the Social Media team now has made my dream a reality. Sharing and spreading out massages about wildlife and its beauty through photography has always been my dream a wise photographer once told me “Shoot with a camera to keep; shoot with a gun and eliminate forever”.

Here are some of my favourite photos and best moments I have captured of late...
