A Week in the Bush Vol. 193

on Feb 07, 2018

The week got off to a great start with the reserve receiving some much-needed rain! We received over 40mm of rain which saw the rivers flowing for the first time in a long time.

At the start of the week the Southern Pride were seen making their way towards some water to quench their thirst after what seems to have been a good meal for the pride! A few days later they were seen on the trail of a big herd of buffalo who they attempted to hunt before being chased away by some big bulls. They ended the week with a failed hunting attempt on a dazzle of zebra!

The Avoca males have again been seen quite regularly out on safari and even attempted to hunt some wildebeest.

A male cheetah managed to bring down an impala in the middle of the day and was found resting under the shade of a tree in the afternoon.

We have enjoyed numerous leopard sightings this week, including Maxabeni, White Dam male and the Little Bush female who we suspect has given birth, making the sighting of her with a kill a wonderful one!

With the recent rains, the air is crisp and the animals all seem to be in good spirits with some wonderful general game sightings as well as some spectacular bird sightings.

Until next time...
