A Week in the Bush Vol. 174

on Sep 27, 2017

The bush has been producing some amazing sightings this past week with lots of predator activity!

Ntsumi was found not too far from Earth Lodge with a Common Duiker kill stashed up in a Marula tree. Upon following up later, the Kashane male had made an appearance to investigate this new female leopard within his territory but she fled the vicinity at the first chance she got.

Later in the week, she was seen on an impala kill! We had a wonderful sighting of her as she made her way to the closest waterhole to quench her thirst, before returning to her kill to continue feeding.

The Little Bush female was seen on a small impala ewe kill at the beginning of the week which she later lost to the White Dam male. She didn’t seem too bothered about this which leads us to believe that she’s possibly back in oestrus and the possibility of mating with the White Dam male again could be on the cards! Both these leopards have been very successful this week in securing numerous meals for themselves.

Chanyn and her guests had an amazing sighting of the Kashane male making his way around Earth Lodge, passing in front of the Amber Presidential Suite, where the guests happen to be staying!

The two Avoca males have also been seen this week and are looking to be in really great condition!

General game sightings have also been fantastic – baboons, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, nyalas, waterbuck etc have all been frequenting the lodges as well as the lodge surroundings as food becomes scarcer during the dry months.

Until next time...
