Embracing the Dawn

Awakening to a gentle knock on the door instead of a jarring phone alarm sets the right tone for the day. Outside, the chirping of cicadas promises a sun-drenched day, but you grab a warm layer for the morning chill and head to the lodge for a morning refreshment to start the day. "Shall we go and see what's out there?", your ranger's inquiry ignites anticipation.

It's not long before your tracker's keen eyes catch a faint trail, prompting your ranger to steer off-road, drawn by the urgent alarm calls of impalas. A leopard is eyeing its prized catch while the presence of hyenas adds to the unfolding drama. We observe nature in its natural state and through empathy towards this environment, we get front row seats.

The ensuing adrenaline rush begs for a caffeine fix and on cue, your ranger stops at a clearing where coffee (infused with a dash of Amarula liqueur) is brewed on the spot and jars of homemade treats silence rumbling stomachs. 

Breakfast follows back at the lodge and with your appetite satisfied; many appealing activities await. A spa treatment or lounge by the pool? A guided bush walk or bird watching from the expansive decks? 

An Afternoon Interlude

Lunch is a light affair against the backdrop of a nearby waterhole and the afternoon drifts by in the company of bushbuck and playful vervet monkeys exploring the lodge. A power nap rejuvenates you, followed by a delightful high tea before you embark on the next chapter of your safari journey.

As the vehicle trawls the bushveld, the scent of wild grass and lush, dense foliage fills the air, heightening your senses. Then, a crackle over the radio signals a change in course, leading to a heart-warming sight - a lioness tenderly caring for her cubs.

Watching the sun dip below the horizon, you find yourself with a gin and tonic in hand, surrounded by the African bush and its nocturnal inhabitants, while your ranger and tracker exchange thrilling stories of wildlife encounters.

Nightfall and Reflection

Returning to the lodge, you are greeted by the comforting glow of flickering lanterns and bonfires, and you gather around the bar where animated conversations recount the day's adventures.

Dinner is a culinary journey beneath a sky crammed with stars, serenaded by frogs, crickets and Fiery-necked nightjars. As the day's excitement gives way to the tranquillity of the night, Africa's rhythm lulls you into a blissful slumber.
