Spider Web Sunrise

Kyle 01 Feb 2017 Spider Web SunRise 2 Final

Early morning sunrises are spectacular, regardless of what you see in the bush! Having the early morning dew sitting on the vegetation and spider webs makes them stand out easier. This Webbing had dew set on it and with the sun rising in the background, really made it pop out and I decided to photograph it.

Equipment Used

  • Camera - Canon 7D MKii
  • Lens and focal length - Canon 100-400 MKii f4.5-5.6

Settings used to capture this image

  • ISO 2500 – I used a higher ISO as there was not much light out due to the sun just rising.
  • Aperture f9 - In order to try and get as much detail in the webbing as possible.
  • Shutter Speed - 1/640 – There was no movement in the webbing so I kept the shutter speed low to allow more light.

Editing used on this image

I lifted the highlights which then brought out the web. I then dropped the shadows to create a darker background to further bring the webbing out. Finally, I lifted clarity to 15 to sharpen up the webbing.
