A Week in the Bush Vol. 142
on Feb 16, 2017We have had a couple of fantastic sightings of the two youngest sets of Southern Pride cubs. The smallest trio are now 6-weeks old and mom brought them out for all to see! This trio comprises of 2 females and a male and all are doing exceptionally well!

We had a visit from a young, unknown male lion this week. He has been seen in the area a few times, but unfortunately no one has been able to positively identify him. He is sporting a few wounds to his right eye, however, this is just a minor injury sustained in the life of a male lion.

Another amazing sighting this week was of not one or two, but THREE leopards in one sighting! Little Bush and her cub were feeding on a baby kudu which they had taken down, when Maxabeni showed up. Maxabeni remained in the vicinity of the females, marking his territory close to Bush Lodge.

Kigelia has been seen regularly yet again, and in close proximity to Little Bush Camp.

General game sightings have been off the charts this week!
A small clan of hyenas was resting in a dam along with some buffalo when two rhinos came in and disturbed their sleep!

We spent some time with this juvenile male Chacma Baboon as he displayed the efficiency of the well-developed cheek pouches in which they store a variety of consumable material which can be eaten later at leisure.

With temperatures being quite high this week, a big herd of elephants enjoyed a nice mud bath after a long hot day.

This Water Monitor took a short break from digging to catch its breath.

A male waterbuck shows amazing posture as the sun sets on another beautiful day in Africa!

Three little Wildebeest calves were in high spirits after the recent rains and could not contain their energy as they bounced around and played with one another.

Amazing bird sightings were witnessed too! We had a rare sighting of a Lizzard Buzzard in the tops of a Marula Tree.

An African Wood Owl sits at the entrance to Bush Lodge, welcoming guests back from their safari!

A Vulture takes flight from the remains of a small carcass.

We have enjoyed spectacular views of the rising moon over the past few days as well as some beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Until next week...
