When everything comes together

on Apr 28, 2020

Photography was always something that fascinated me growing up, my dad and my aunt both had an interest in it and as a young girl it sparked a newfound interest.

I only really got into photography once I started guiding as now I had so many incredible mammals, birds, sunsets, sunrises, etc. to focus on. It took some time before I could get the hang of things and still to this day, I can only say I am an amateur at best but so what! I love it!! And some days I struggle and cannot get the photos I am wanting and other days everything just comes together and works out.

I was back tracking on some old photos of mine and came across these leopard photos. I remember this day so well, the young Ntsumi female leopard had made a kill and had come down to rest after gorging herself, she found a nice high termite mound that would just fit right

She made herself comfortable while staring into the mesmerizing sunset, the water colours of the sky just complimented her ever so elegantly. She had this look of such calmness and gratitude on her face that I remember gave all of us the exact same feeling

The ways she molded to the termite mound made us feel comfortable for her. My guests and I were just at peace in this surreal moment.

Not much was said after all that needed to be said and we were just happy to sit and spend time with this amazing animal as she rested as the day was coming to an end. As it got a bit darker, she eventually got up and moved off, we watched her fade into the bushes and thanked her for the special moment we all felt as we got to sit and be with her.
