Monochrome Monday #86

on Aug 15, 2016

Do not take pictures to please the public, the photo should be spontaneous and free. - Betty Poluk

It is quite tough in this day and age to live by this motto, especially with the way in which Social Media works. We are bombarded with thousands of images on a daily basis and within a couple of seconds, we “Like” it...or we don’t. So it becomes difficult then to not take photos with these thoughts in mind and what we end up doing is not capturing the moment for what it is, a memory of some or other magical experience, and we just try produce something that people will like. It sort of misses the point of what this art-form is about doesn’t it? My advice is, do what makes you happy, photograph things for the sake of preserving moments in time and forget about how many “likes” your image might get. Below are just some of the moments that I have been blessed enough to experience within a calendar month and I hope you enjoy them as this week’s selection of monochrome images.
