Monochrome Monday #65
on Mar 21, 2016Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field. - Peter Adams
Photography and in particular, monochrome photography, is a great tool in evoking emotion. The very definition of emotion being a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. Spending time in nature, observing it, immersing one’s self in it, conjures up all sorts of feelings and as photographers we try to capture the essence of what we were feeling in that moment in order to hold onto it. The experience is never limited though to only the individual behind the lens, but also extends to the viewer. Most photographers will hope that the images they put out there for people to see evoke in them some sort of feeling, subjective or not. This week I have put together a series of images that should highlight the maternal/paternal side in us all. The caring of one’s offspring is a universal language unspoken and not limited to the human experience. Spending time with animals and their young can be one of the most humbling experiences in one’s life. I hope you all enjoy it...

Mentally, elephants are a lot like humans and there’s no mistaking the joy seen in a child’s face when at play.
A bond only moms will be able to fully explain.

Physical contact is hugely important in establishing an emotional connection.
Even though there may be ups and downs, there are not many bonds stronger than that of siblings.
Even the most hardened of hearts will soften when spending time in the presence of pure innocence.
The affection shared between mother and young is immeasurable.
Curiosity is a building block in shaping one’s outcome in life.
Even when chaos surrounds you, the world stands still in the presence of love.
