Monochrome Monday #30

I think after a while of getting out there into the bush and taking images of wildlife, one starts to look for that ‘something different’ kind of image to tell the story rather than just creating a sharp photograph. I love this about photography! This week I have chosen some images that I felt capture a certain feeling when I looked at them and I hope you enjoy this week’s selection as much as I do.
This hyena cub approached us with utmost curiosity that one can only expect from a young animal.
Taking the time to slow down and look for interesting ways to portray the same subject. Here...a lion’s paw.
The scent on the air peaked the interest of this lioness as she caught wind of two strange males nearby.
The ultimate in relaxation.
I love yawn shots! There is just something about seeing a large carnivore’s massive canine teeth. There is such power in those jaws.
This young female is on the verge of independence and this recent photo of her seems to encapsulate the mood of her current situation. Looking to the future or reminiscing about the past?
A surprise visit of an old friend, but not a friendly encounter for all. Mahlathini moves in to steal a stolen meal.
New blood! One of the impressive Matshipiri Pride males gazing forward and full of confidence.
One of the most famous female leopards in our region and an image of her that completely captures the mood of this incredible cat.
Ever-vigilant, this wildebeest couldn’t even take his eyes off of us for one second!
