A Week in the Bush Vol. 211

on Jun 17, 2018

“The continued existence of wildlife and wilderness is important to the quality of life of humans.” ~ Jim Fowler

One tends to experience how time flies, not only when you’re having fun, but also when you write a weekly blog and realise it’s that time again! I hope you enjoy some of the highlights of the past week on safari...

We continue to be blessed with incredible cheetah sightings. This male cheetah consumed more than his fill, as can be seen in these pics, before being chased off his kill by a committee of vultures!

A first for us at Sabi Sabi – a sighting of the young Hanyile male!

A very familiar face in the form of Maxabeni, greeted Terry and his guests one morning as he made his way down the road... What a wonderful sight to witness first thing in the morning.

The impressive White Dam male was seen stalking a small herd of impala that ended in an unsuccessful hunt as the mid-morning winter temperatures finally started to rise.

The Ntsumi female was more successful as she was seen feasting on an impala kill.

The Msuthlu female was also seen this week as she made her way through her territory, marking as she progressed whilst keeping a watchful eye out for any potential prey.

We had our work cut out as the Kigelia female send us on a wild goose chase as we followed her through some thick bush as she went about her daily routines.

We continue to enjoy regular sightings of two sub adults of the Southern Pride. We are still unsure of the whereabouts of the other members. These two seem to be doing just fine on their own as they looked well fed and in great condition. Despite this, lions are eternal optimists and we watched as these 2 chased a herd of kudus around but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

Other than the cats, we have enjoyed some spectacular sightings of a wide-variety of birds, elephants, plains game, etc...

Until next time...
