A Week in the Bush Vol. 210

on Jun 06, 2018

Welcome to another edition of A Week in the Bush...

The young Mhangeni Pride were seen early in the week on the trail of some buffalo. They were looking extremely focussed but sadly were not successful in their hunting attempts.

A few days later, they were seen with 4 other lions, possibly from the Southern Pride, but we are unsure. These lions had killed 2 warthogs – not nearly enough to satisfy so many lions and we are unsure which lions made the kills.

We enjoyed a sighting of these two beautiful Southern Pride sub adult lions on the move shortly after sunset.

We had some superb sightings of the Little Bush female this week. Earlier in the week she was seen with what looked like an Aardvark tail in her mouth. The following morning, we crossed paths with her again as she was treed by some hyenas whilst looking for her next meal. Luckily for her the nearest tree was a beautiful big, Marula tree, with lots of comfortable branches to rest in.

We were incredibly lucky to be between what seemed like a leopard love triangle between the White Dam male, Mawelawela male and the Msuthlu female. We unfortunately lost sight of the one male as he was chased off by the White Dam male, but we got to see some interesting interactions between the female and remaining male.

Our pre-morning safari tea and coffee at Selati Camp was interrupted as a young male leopard was seen drinking at the waterhole. It wasn't long before we relocated him as he confidently walked through his father’s territory actively leaving his scent.
