Cats, dogs, birds, rain, amazing sunrises and sunsets – another wonderful Week in the Bush was had at Sabi Sabi!

The Southern Pride have been seen quite regularly this week and seem to be in high spirits between hunting exercises.

A second pride of lions along with one male lion were also seen this past week on a wildebeest kill.

The two Matimba males seem quite settled on the reserve as seen here soaking up some of the much-needed rain!

A small pack of 6 African Wild Dog made an appearance as they chased an impala lamb into a relatively deep waterhole. Unfortunately, the lamb was unable to tread water for the duration of the African Wild Dog’s presence and drowned, leaving the pack to go hungry.

Moving on to the leopards and its ladies first...

The young Ntsumi female uses a large termite mound as a vantage point in scanning the nearby area for her next meal.

The Split Rock male was seen on numerous occasions this week. He was unsuccessful in taking down some impala earlier in the week and was still seen to be actively searching for a decent meal later in the week.

Here Maxabeni male becomes active as night falls as he starts his attempt to potentially secure himself a meal. He was also making his way through his territory, scent marking and contact calling a nearby female that is in oestrus.

One of the more senior male leopards, Kashane, was successful in taking down a Common Duiker and hoisting it up a Marula Tree right next to Suite 6 at Earth Lodge.

Between spells of rain and sunshine, animals and birds were out in full force with some wonderful sightings enjoyed by all!
