february 2009
sabi sabi 01-08 february sightings
There were fewer vehicles out driving last week, however we were still able to view some great game. The roads are still very wet and the grass is tall! The lions put in a great performance for our guests.
lions
We had sightings of the Southern Selati pride on numerous occasions and 2 sightings of the dominant males on their own. They were trying to proclaim more territory while the Lisbon Pride remained trapped south of the Sabi River. 8 sightings altogether.
leopard
8 sightings of leopard last week, even though with the heavy rains we had to be very careful about traversing sensitive bushveld areas. There were some good sightings of leopards on kills.
buffalo
We are still having good viewings of the resident herds of bulls as they wallow in the mud, and are waiting for the breeding herds to come back. 7 sightings.
white rhino
Excellent Rhino sightings and they are being seen singly and in groups all over the reserve. 10 sightings last week.
elephant
Many, many sightings of both herds and lone bulls. The herds are mainly being seen in the northern sections of Sabi Sabi. 19 sightings.
wild dog
1 sighting of the Dogs last week.
