a spectacular place!
My wife and I were at Selati Camp and Earth Lodge August 13-16 on a package we bought through Luxury Link. It was the last 4 nights of an extraordinary 16 nights in Southern Africa.
I thought you might all like to see the brief review I provided to Luxury Link when we got home:
"My wife and I just returned from a trip to Southern Africa, where we stayed at Sabi Sabi Selati Camp and Earth Lodge. Sabi Sabi is outstanding.
At Selati Camp we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite, though all the regular suites were lovely. The ambiance was very laid back and quite romantic. The guiding (game drives, ranger and tracker) was outstanding. At Selati one huge elephant came into camp about lunchtime and we all watched it from about 20 feet away while it proceeded to drink from the swimming pool. Meanwhile a score or more of elephants and herds of wildebeest were visible from the deck at the waterhole. Also saw 15 lions sleeping en mass. We saw lots of rhinos, giraffes, tons of elephants, cape buffalo and some spectacular leopards. Great food. Very lovely place. As we were leaving Selati for Earth Lodge a leopard came into the camp stalking a bushbuck. The birds alerted the bushbuck, which started barking like a dog and the leopard and bushbuck stared each other down for half an hour. Later that day the leopard killed a kudu nearby.
Earth Lodge was simply spectacular. Like living in a sculpture. Amazing suites and public spaces. Perhaps the nicest place we've ever been anywhere in the world. Also great food and truly great ranger/tracker. I really wanted to see a leopard in a tree and we wound up watching a leopard eating an impala in a tree for an hour (without any other vehicle coming over). The sighting just kept getting better and better and better. It was a spectacular place to end our extended trip."
Thank all of you again for the wonderful time, great memories and spectacular pictures. We have a new favourite place.
