sabi sabi ranger gallery: rika venter
For her entire life, from a very young age until today, Rika has lived and breathed nature. After completing school she enrolled at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) and attained a degree in Heritage and Cultural Tourism.
Shortly after completing her studies she joined the Limpopo Field Guide Academy as a camp assistant. She then moved to a private concession in the Greater Kruger area for her first position as head ranger.
Rika's interest in teaching showed when she joined Bush Wise Field Guides for a while as a lecturer. Driven by her passion for different cultures and habitats, Rika has worked in the northern part of the Kruger National Park, in KwaZulu-Natal and even as far as Tanzania.
She was finally lured to the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. She joined the Sabi Sabi team in 2010 as a game ranger and was soon promoted to Assistant Head Ranger. Rika is a FGASA level 3 guide with an added Tracker Level 1 qualification. She has a passion for history, archaeology and animal behaviour.
