Rico has been with Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve since 2008 and can only be described as a true nature addict. He started his career in nature with a diploma in Game Ranging and Lodge Management at Damelin College. He qualified as a Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA) level 1 guide through Eco Training in 2006 and his first position as a game ranger was with a safari ranch north of Johannesburg.
His outgoing personality then landed him a unique opportunity with a sable and black impala breeding programme at a game farm in Thabazimbi.
Rico is a real opportunist. To him every day is an unwritten story, ready and waiting to happen. When he got the chance to work at Sabi Sabi he didn't hesitate.
Part of the daily bush adventure on the reserve is tracking animals and Rico's interest in tracking grew to such a point that in 2010 he qualified as a Level 1 tracker. He assures us that Level 1 tracking is not where it will end and he is looking at specializing in this field.
While at Sabi Sabi he has also completed his FGASA Trails Back Up and Advanced Rifle Handling qualifications.
Even after five years of working in the bushveld his interest in all creatures - from the smallest of insects to the biggest of the big five - still grows every single day. For Rico, the best feeling every day is to wake up not knowing what bush adventure awaits him and his guests around the next corner.
