Michell grew up in a small town in Mpumalanga, South Africa. She has always loved the outdoors and has an inborn spirit of adventure. Following this passion she enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, and in 2006 completed her diploma in Adventure Tourism Management.
With this qualification under her belt she worked at a conference and teambuilding company as a corporate teambuilding co-ordinator and as an adventure guide at lodges in the Free State and KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
Michell already had an impressive adventure résumé - she is an instructor in white-water rafting, quad biking and abseiling - when she decided to change careers and become a field guide. She joined ANT - the African Nature Training team, and completed her Field Guide Association of Southern Africa's (FGASA) Level 1.
At the beginning of 2011 she joined Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve and is now a qualified member of the field guiding team.
