sabi sabi ranger gallery: martin frolik
For as long as he can remember Martin has loved South African wildlife and been interested in conservation. Martin studied agriculture at the Pretoria Technikon and dabbled in various jobs in that field for numerous years. He eventually found himself yearning for a life and career in the bushveld - the place where he feels most at home and at peace. Martin began pursuing his dreams in 2008. He completed his Field Guide Association of Southern Africa's (FGASA) Level 1 through Africa Nature Training, going on to join their company after graduation. As part of their staff he would assist new students on their field excursions, imparting his passion and knowledge whilst all the time working towards making his vision for the future a reality.
In 2011 Martin applied to Sabi Sabi and after completing his training was accepted into the ranger team. Here he finally found what he had been looking for; a home in the bush where he could pursue both his interest in conservation and his love of photography. Martin is constantly learning and improving his photographic technique. Being able to capture the unseen mood and emotion in a photograph and move the viewer is what he is after. Since beginning his career as a fully qualified Sabi Sabi ranger, Martin not only prides himself on imparting his passion for wildlife to his guests, he also has his camera in hand at every possible opportunity and loves being able to help his guests get the most out of their stay and photograph the best bushveld moments.
