Monochrome Monday #32

on Jul 27, 2015

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever...it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. - Aaron Siskind

This week I have chosen a handful of powerful images from sightings that I feel represent the area in which I get to call home. Many of them have been taken months ago, yet working on them again for the purposes of putting together this blog I have been able to revisit images that have had a profound effect on me and my photography. All are moments captured in time and I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing these memories to the fore once again. Please enjoy this week’s selection.

01Mike Palmer Cheetah Close Up

A gorgeous portrait of an incredible hunter as it moves through the wooded vegetation searching for its next meal.

02Mike Palmer Ellie Profile

Elephants are immensely powerful, yet at the same time they can be completely gentle and delicate in every way. No safari is complete without elephants being involved in my opinion.

03Mike Palmer Fourways Male 1

One of the new males within our range in the darkness of night. What could be better than this?!

04Mike Palmer Hippo

Hippos have a reputation for being outwardly aggressive, but here we spent time with an individual that was as relaxed as I’ve ever seen.

05Mike Palmer Hlarulini Female 2

A new female in the area and a beautiful one at that. Here she crouches as low as possible to remain concealed from her quarry.

06Mike Palmer Cheetah Low Profile

After failing to capture its quarry, this cheetah decided that a rest was in order, highlighting the casual demeanour that is often associated with it.

07Mike Palmer Hyena Cubs 2

This is about as cute and curious as they get. I definitely have a soft spot for hyenas.

08Mike Palmer Fourways Male 2

A powerful shot that captured the essence of this particular male’s most formidable weapons.

09Mike Palmer Max R.Line

Our resident male leopard, Maxabeni, on a mission to secure his boundaries. A common sight with this particular animal.

10Mike Palmer White Dam

The White Dam female looking on intensely as she spots a herd of impala up ahead.
