A camera is a save button for the mind’s eye – Rogu Kingston

A lot of rangers nowadays are buying themselves a digital camera. Rangers witness incredible scenes on a daily basis while doing their job. It’s one thing explaining a sighting to family, friends and guests, but this is enhanced when they have photos to back up their amazing stories. I hope you enjoy this week’s Monochrome Monday.

Dust caused by the rest of this herd of buffalo along the banks of the Msuthlu River creates a spectacular scene of a few of them that are still in the river drinking.

The Ximhungwe Pride takes refuge under a Marula tree during the heat of the day.

A Tree Squirrel displays its balance and agility as it makes its way down a tree from its drey.

Two zebra stand side-by-side watching as another herd of zebra approach.

The White Dam female leopard is slowly starting to show herself more and more on our property. The downside to this is that she is moving into Nottins’ territory.

Two male impalas battle it out for dominance. During the rutting season scenes like this play out throughout the reserve.

When a wild dog stands still long enough for a photo like this, you should be happy.

Framing this shot of a Grey Heron in-between the elephant’s trunk and leg took patience and timing.

A common subject, but one that usually runs away as soon as a vehicle approaches, so I was glad when this Common Duiker was relaxed enough with our presence.

A cheetah and her two sub-adult cubs stand guard as the Little Bush female leopard approaches their kill from a distance.
