monochrome monday #20
on May 04, 2015“A photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you.” ― Brigitte Bardot
I never understood the importance of taking pictures to document life’s moments until my late twenties and it is something that I regret wholeheartedly. There is a famous saying that a picture says a thousand words, and it’s true. It can also take you back to that precise moment in time when it all happened and allow you to relive your fondest memories. It is something that I can fully appreciate nowadays and why I try to photograph as much as possible. I hope you enjoy this week’s selection of images as much as I enjoyed retouching them and reliving the moments shared with the many visitors I have hosted in my time here.
Something a bit different as a male cheetah sharpens his semi-protractile claws on the trunk of a fallen tree.
An incredible moment shared with a very relaxed bull elephant as he fed a few meters from the vehicle.
Little Bush’s cub is proving to be quite a character and will definitely be a leopard to watch in the future.
A tribute to one of the most relaxed young leopard cubs I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Rest in peace.
The iconic Nottins still hanging in there after the loss of her cub some weeks ago.
The last of the migrants that seem to be hanging around, this European Roller allowed me within very close proximity for this shot.
The youngest member of a pride in disarray. I hope these Southern Pride girls get back on their feet soon.
An energizing breath before moving of on a territorial patrol.
The alpha male of the Lower Sabie wild dog pack on the alert for prey. They have been spending a lot of time with us lately and we are hoping they will decide to den here for the winter.
One of the most sought after and unusually camouflaged animals in all of Africa.
