― Henri Cartier-Bresson
Living in the wilds of Africa has a profound effect on one’s way of thinking and approach to life in general. It is hugely important to take some extra time for yourself and wake up a little earlier to experience the stillness and magnificence of a sunrise as much as possible. It is great food for the soul. This is something we as Guides often practice, and of course involving our guests, but an activity that is not limited to this environment alone. I hope you will enjoy this week’s selection of images.
A young male from the Sparta Pride gazes up curiously at some vultures circling above them.
A large aggregation of blue wildebeest along with their youngsters all happily grazing together in the early morning sun.
One of Africa’s most endangered predators and almost every South African’s favourite!
A young bull elephant shows his displeasure at a passing lone buffalo.
A most beautiful roadblock if ever there was one. A herd of impala feeding in the early morning.
The powerful Maxabeni male has his attention captured for a brief moment as a small group of kudu moves about in a thicket nearby.
A young lioness from the Southern Pride split looks towards an uncertain future.
A feeding frenzy as hyenas and vultures look to secure a giraffe carcass.
A slightly obscured view of the Warthog Wallow female...a style of photography that I most enjoy.
A tender moment as a zebra foal suckles from its mother...how lucky we are.
