A Week in the Bush Vol. 173

on Sep 20, 2017

It’s been a leopard frenzy this past week with many fantastic sightings of these beautiful cats!

Kashane demonstrated the true meaning of “with patience comes great reward”! We watched him as he sat waiting for warthogs to leave their burrow within a termite mound and launched himself at one of the piglets as they exited, securing himself a meal.

The White Dam male was also out and about hunting warthogs but blew his own cover and went to rest in some shade in an area where his father, Maxabeni, was feeding on a duiker kill.

After following up on some drag marks, the young Ntsumi female was found with a duiker kill below her. Despite her full belly, she gave our guests some amazing photographic opportunities.

The three Tsalala males were seen on our property in the Northern sector looking rather full and content with life as they slept of their recent kill, however they seemed rather unsettled as they kept an eye out on the horizon.

On Sunday, the two Avoca males were found close to where the Tsalala males were left the night before. They kept a keen eye on a herd of wildebeest in an open area, but sadly the wildebeest caught their scent as a blustery wind passed over the plains. Later on that evening, they were moving again and upon following up the following morning, they were lucky enough to have caught a warthog.

Herewith some general sightings, which again have been in abundance!

Until next time...
