The experience of ‘Soul Food’ while on safari

Kevan Dobbie Giraffe 2307.2 Final

When coming on a safari, the experience that you shall receive is the most important part of all. At Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, the rangers and staff are trained to a degree of excellence in order to run at the five star level that we are. But in particular, when out on safari, the game viewing and the time spent in the reserve are the most important and the memories that are captured and never forgotten. Besides all the excellent game viewing and the knowledge attained from such a safari experience, guests are also subjected to “Soul Food” moments, such as spectacular views and the thought of being in the wilderness.

In such image, I have captured the experience of being able to view a sunset on the reserve looking into the far West towards the escarpment and Drakensberg mountain range surrounded by pristine wilderness is an experience that is what I really call “Soul Food.” Luckily while viewing the sunset a female giraffe wondered into the picture and posed perfectly as she collected a bone fragment and chewed on it, commonly known as “Osteophagia” where herbivore species receive their calcium requirements, a spectacular experience that one will receive while on safari at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve.

Editing used on this image

Not a lot of editing went into this image, all that was added was the increasing the white balance and darkening the shadows and black colours for a beautiful contrast of colours to be visualised as it was seen with the naked eye.
