Monochrome Monday #90

When you take a photo, you often take your own reality into your camera - the reality that you shaped in your mind - and not the real reality over there, whatever it is! - Mehmet Murat ildan

I think this is a concept that many people around the world just don’t understand about photography and especially in the realm of wildlife. You hear the term a lot when something doesn’t appear to be 100% real, “Ah, that looks so Photshopped!”. Since when did “Photoshop” become such a dirty word in photography? I get that some people are true minimalists when it comes to wildlife photography and that’s perfectly fine, it’s their style, but one should never limit themselves to just one way of doing things. The Adobe range of editing tools, namely Lightroom and Photoshop, are absolutely incredible when it comes to creating images that you had in your mind’s eye. A camera can only do so much and has a lot of limitations due to technology, or lack of technology, within it. For the rest, it’s up to the person behind the lens and the editing tools with which they can utilize to create their vision. In today’s blog post I have used images that have seen a fair amount of editing done to them in order to create the image I envisioned. I hope you enjoy them.
